Himachal Helicopter Skiing is an Australian owned and operated company established by Roddy Mackenzie in 1988. Since 1983 Mackenzie had been looking into the possibilities for a heliskiing operation at Manali after he first visited the area whilst mountaineering. The initial surveys were made with the help of Dave McNulty, a noted mountaineer from New Zealand. McNulty was the founder of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and was instrumental in the commencement of heliskiing in New Zealand.
