Introduction |
Snow Quality & Skiing Conditions There
is no doubt that the skiing in the Himalaya is extremely
good. Many of our guests regard it as the finest skiing
in the world and we have no reasons to dispute this.
There is more consistent powder than anywhere else we
know of and in general the skiing in the Western Himalaya
is better than most other places. By mid March most areas
above 3050 metres will have 5 metres of standing snow,
with the top metre being relatively low density, say 10%
to 7%. Snow will continue to fall until the end of April.
The snow storms can sometimes produce up to 10 feet of
snow in three to four days.
