Introduction The Weather

Winter comes to the Himalaya in December. Snow may fall as low as1525 metres and these snowfalls are intense. In January it is normal to expect heavy snow at 2440 metres and it is probable at 2135 metres. During this period the snow line will fluctuate as the temperatures are relatively warm and the sun intense. Good powder skiing can be had above 2440 metres. March brings heavy precipitation with the snowline rising to around 2750 metres by April. Powder can still be found above 3650 metres on Northerly facing slopes.

Temps at 2135 metres are:
January -5 to -10 +4 to +8
February -3 to -7 +6 to +10
March 0 to 4 +6 to +18
