Sheep Property in the Flinders Ranges With
250 square miles of spectacular country in the Flinders Ranges, Angorichna is a
medium sized (!) outback sheep station run by Ian and Di Fargher. As the third
generation of Farghers on the property, they know the country better than anyone
and will welcome you into their home, the old stone homestead at Angorichna, and
show you the secret spots on their property. Whether it is joining Ian as he
checks the bores on the property or explains the business of running sheep in
such arid and hard conditions, Hosts:
Ian & Di Fargher Accommodation & meals: 1 renovated ensuite room in the old schoolhouse outside, 2 bedrooms inside sharing one bathroom. A private guest living room provides privacy should you wish, otherwise there is space to relax on the terrace or in the main living area of the homestead. Breakfast is served in the kitchen with Di preparing to order. Dinner is hosted in the dining room while lunch may be a picnic out on the property, or part of a day trip to the Prairie hotel to enjoy some of their unique Australian cuisine. Activities:
Station activities: spend time with Ian as he attends to the daily
business of running an outback sheep station – checking the bores on the
property, hearing his stories of the tasks involved in making a living in the
outback Wildlife viewing: - Angorichna is home to a variety of wildlife - emus,
Red & grey kangaroos and Yellow-footed rock wallabies. As a private
property, you will have access to areas of the Flinders Ranges that most people
never see, and you will never see other people there. Aboriginal culture: -
spending time with a local aborigine, as he takes time to show you aspects of
his culture, some of the local bush cuisine and tells you the stories that lie
behind his culture. |
